Oenops Wines Apla Red 2023
Macedonia, Greece ( 75 cL )
A light and generous Greek red built around vibrant fruit, freshness and conviviality.
A blend of Xinomavro, Limniona and Mavroudi from Macedonia, Thessaly and Thrace, APLA Red offers a fresh and approachable interpretation of Greece’s indigenous red varieties. The nose evokes juicy cherry and fresh red berries, with a subtle hint of tomato leaf. Smooth and balanced on the palate, the fruit is carried by soft tannins and a refreshing finish. Exceptionally versatile and best served slightly chilled, it pairs beautifully with pizza, tomato-based pasta, grilled vegetables and lighter grilled meats.
Founded by Nikos Karouzos, Oenops Wines is a Greek winery exploring the richness and diversity of the country’s indigenous grape varieties. Based in Drama, Macedonia, the winery works with partner growers across different regions of Greece to reveal the identity of each grape variety and terroir. Low-intervention winemaking, indigenous yeasts and carefully considered ageing allow Oenops to create vibrant, elegant and authentic wines, with freshness and fruit expression at their core.
